Our Philosopy at UVP is simple:
Nurture the whole child.
Our Mission at UVP is to offer a developmentally appropriate, process-oriented program for all children.
Upper Valley Preschool (UVP) was founded in order to provide a quality educational and developmental experience in an all-day setting allowing for children of working parents to experience high caliber learning in a collaborative setting.
UVP was created out of a community desire of parents and teachers to find a balance between child care and preschool. The existing area options for children 3 months to 5 years provide either full day day-care environment, or partial day curriculum rich programming. UVP seeks to find balance in this and all ways.
With a low student-teacher ratio, reasonable tuition and commitment to teacher satisfaction, UVP aspires to be both community-oriented and progressive in its approach. Using a combination of traditional and avant-garde pedagogical strategies, UVP teachers provide children with a holistic childhood experience that concentrates on citizenship building, independence strengthening and preparation for elementary school and beyond.
This means that our curriculum includes activities specifically to stimulate growth in all developmental areas.
Our program works closely with parents to build a foundation for a lifelong love of learning.
The cooperative structure allows parents, teachers and administration to collaborate and have voices heard in a community setting, as each member is equally integral to the success of the program.
We believe that children learn best through active play and exploration in a safe, nurturing environment. Your child's cognitive, language, social-emotional, and fine and gross motor skills will emerge and grow at their own pace as s/he participates in a balance of child-directed stimulating learning centers, small and large group activities, meal time, clean-up time, outside play, rest time and group meeting time with songs, games, and stories.
